Treatment, Intervention & Prevention Services (TIPS)
Our Treatment, Intervention & Prevention Services (TIPS) program provides vital office-based therapy for children, parents, and families. TIPS addresses a wide spectrum of emotional and behavioral challenges stemming from life transitions and difficult experiences. Our therapists are skilled in helping families cope with:

Families in Transition Program (FIT)
The Families in Transition Program (FIT) offers a flexible and in-depth approach to mental health support. Recognizing that each family’s situation is unique, FIT provides services in environments that best suit their needs, whether at home, school, or in our offices. CalWORKs Case Management and Therapeutic Services: BOOST Program
Family Paths supports parents transitioning from welfare to work through our B.O.O.S.T. Program – Building Opportunities and Outreach for Support and Treatment. This initiative offers CalWORKs Case Management and Therapeutic Services to empower parents on their path to self-sufficiency. We provide a comprehensive suite of services including:
- Individual and family counseling
- Employment Specialist support
- Peer Specialist mentorship
- Referrals to parenting and life skills classes
- Connections to community resources and job opportunities

Finding Peace Within Group for Women
Finding Peace Within is a specialized skills-based support group for women navigating the effects of past trauma. This empowering group provides practical tools and techniques to help trauma survivors cultivate calmness and ease in their daily lives. Participants learn and practice strategies to manage trauma symptoms and build resilience in a supportive and understanding environment.

Parenting Stress Helpline: 24/7 Support
Our Parenting Stress Helpline is a critical resource for parents and caregivers seeking immediate support. Staffed 24 hours a day by trained professional and volunteer counselors, the helpline offers:
- Over-the-phone counseling and emotional support
- Crisis intervention for urgent situations
- Access to a comprehensive database of nearly 900 community resources
- Referrals to Family Paths’ services

Foster Parent Advice Line (FosterPAL)
The Foster Parent Advice Line (FosterPAL) extends the support of our Parenting Stress Helpline specifically to foster parents and kinship caregivers. Operating 24/7, FosterPAL understands the unique demands of foster care and provides tailored advice and support. In addition to helpline services, FosterPAL offers case management through Family Paths’ Foster Parent Community Advocate, ensuring foster families receive comprehensive assistance. The dedicated helpline number is also 1-800-829-3777.
Positive Parenting Classes for All Families
Positive Parenting Classes at Family Paths are designed to benefit all types of families, including expecting parents, parents of children of all ages, foster and kinship care providers, adoptive parents, and LGBT families. Our curriculum focuses on essential parenting skills and knowledge, covering:
- Child development stages and milestones
- Effective communication techniques
- Positive discipline strategies
- Self-awareness for parents
- The importance of self-care
These classes, offered virtually in both English and Spanish, equip parents with the tools to create healthy, safe, and nurturing home environments.
Fatherhood & Co-Parenting: Beyond Conflict Series
Family Paths champions the role of fathers and father figures through our dynamic and FREE 6-week Fatherhood and Co-parenting: Beyond Conflict series, conducted via Zoom. Guided by principles of empathy, gratitude, reliability, and purpose, the curriculum aims to build confidence and enhance co-parenting skills for dads. This program benefits fathers in all family structures, whether living at home or separately. Led by Fatherhood Specialists and featuring guest speakers from Alameda County Child Support Services and Family Court, the series covers crucial topics such as:
- Effective communication with co-parents
- Navigating the Alameda County Family Court and Child Support systems
- Strategies for positive fatherhood and child nurturing
Abriendo Puertas/Opening Doors (AP/OD) Program
Family Paths is proud to be the first agency in Alameda County certified to offer Abriendo Puertas/Opening Doors (AP/OD). This comprehensive, evidence-based 10-session parenting education program is tailored for Latino and non-Latino families. The AP/OD curriculum covers a wide range of topics, from early childhood development to school readiness, empowering parents and caregivers with the knowledge, tools, and confidence to support their children’s success and become effective advocates for their education.
Young Parent Education Program
Through funding from the California State Board of State and Community Corrections, our Young Parent Education Program provides essential parenting education to young parents involved in the juvenile justice or foster care systems. Utilizing the Nurturing Parenting curriculum, this program establishes a strong foundation in positive parenting practices. One-on-one parent coaching is also provided to each participant, offering personalized support and guidance.
Soulful Connections: Effective Black Parenting
Launched in 2024, Soulful Connections is an impactful 15-week series designed to promote Black excellence in parenting. This program provides culturally relevant strategies and resources for parents raising proud, confident, and healthy Black children aged 0-17 years. Soulful Connections fosters a supportive community and equips parents with tools to navigate the unique aspects of raising children within the Black community.
