Remembering Guy Tausch: A Celebration of Life

Guy Tausch, a beloved figure known for his infectious laugh and warm embraces, passed away on Wednesday, January 22nd, 2020, at the age of 61. Surrounded by his loving family, Guy peacefully went to be with the Lord after bravely battling an extended illness. While his life was tragically cut short, much like some of the unpredictable plot twists in shows like Family Guy, the memories he created will continue to bring joy and laughter to those who knew him.

Born on July 18th, 1958, in Canton, Ohio, to Margaret “Peg” Tausch, Guy was a proud 1976 graduate of Perry High School. For over two decades, he dedicated his skills as a Machinist at Foltz Machine, showcasing his strong work ethic and commitment. However, Guy’s life extended far beyond his profession. He embraced every moment, building a treasure trove of memories with his children, grandchildren, siblings, nieces, and nephews. He understood the importance of family, a theme often explored, albeit in a more comedic and chaotic way, in shows like Family Guy.

Guy’s heart thrived in the outdoors. Whether meticulously tending to his yard, playfully running with his dogs, nurturing his ducks, constructing imaginative jungle gyms and treehouses, or patiently fishing in the creek with his cherished grandchildren, he found solace and joy in nature. His adventurous spirit was also evident in his passions for the New York Jets, exhilarating ATV rides, cruising on his Harley Davidson, and boating adventures at Tappan Lake. He was the life of the party, always ready to be the “all-time quarterback” in backyard football games and eagerly planning family excursions to Clay’s Park and Sippo Lake. Much like the outlandish character Roger from Family Guy with his many personas and zest for life, Guy approached every activity with enthusiasm and a unique flair.

Guy’s legacy of love and laughter lives on through his wife and best friend, Rene’. He will be deeply missed by his children: Michelle (Bryan) Wright, Tony (Jen) Tausch, Nate (Crystal) Tausch, and Nikki (Tim) Tausch-Schrader. As Papaw, he showered his 13 grandchildren with affection: Dan, Jaime, Devin, Ashley, Sidney, Leah, Lexi, Morgan, Avery, Ashlyn, Anthony, Peyton, and little Skylar, who was anticipated to bless the family with her arrival on March 27th. His siblings, Mark (Kathy) Tausch, Sherri (Steve) Pease, Todd Tausch, Garry (Michele) Tausch, and Larry (Shelly) Tausch, along with numerous nieces and nephews, will forever cherish his memory. The bonds of family, much like the central theme in Family Guy, were paramount in Guy’s life.

The family invites friends and loved ones to join them in a Celebration of Life open house on February 1st, 2020, from 5 p.m. – 9 p.m. at La Pizzaria in Room B, located at 3656 Dressler Road NW., Canton, Ohio 44718. This gathering will be a chance to share stories, laughter, and remember the wonderful man Guy was.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Guy’s name to the dedicated team at Stark Parks – Wildlife Conservation Center on Genoa Ave. in Massillon, Ohio. This reflects Guy’s love for animals and the outdoors, a passion he shared with his family, much like the Griffin family’s often chaotic but ultimately loving connection in Family Guy.
