The Osborne Family Athletic & Wellness Center: A Hub for Storm Athletics and Lake Erie College Community

This expansive 49,300 square-foot complex was strategically built to accommodate the burgeoning Storm athletic department, which proudly supports 19 varsity teams alongside a competitive dance team. The center provides state-of-the-art facilities that are crucial for the development and success of Lake Erie College’s student-athletes.

The design of the Osborne Family Athletic & Wellness Center, conceived by WTW Architects and brought to life by the Albert M. Higley Co., features two full-size gymnasiums. The main gymnasium is the proud home court for the Storm basketball, wrestling, and volleyball teams, offering seating for up to 750 spectators, creating an energetic atmosphere for competitions and college events.

Beyond team sports, the center caters to a wide range of training needs. The multi-purpose gymnasium is equipped with a tartan-surfaced floor, a full-size batting cage, and indoor pitching mounds, making it an ideal space for indoor baseball, softball, soccer, and lacrosse training, particularly during inclement weather.

Recognizing the importance of overall fitness and wellness for the entire student body, the Osborne Family Athletic & Wellness Center boasts a substantial 4,000-square foot fitness center. This area includes a well-equipped weight room, a dedicated aerobics space, and a suspended running track, all available for use by all Lake Erie College students, promoting a healthy and active lifestyle on campus.

In addition to the primary athletic and fitness areas, the complex incorporates 10 locker rooms of varying sizes to support team and individual needs, along with offices for the athletic department staff. This ensures efficient administration and support for all athletic programs and student-athletes.

Convenient parking is available both in front of and behind the facility, making it easily accessible. During the academic year, the center is open seven days a week, and it maintains a five-day-a-week schedule during the summer months, maximizing opportunities for students and staff to utilize its resources.
