Discover Compassionate Family Therapy with Alex Adams at Hudson Family

Navigating the complexities of family life can be challenging. Many parents, just like you, may feel overwhelmed and unsure of the right path forward when facing difficulties with their children or within their relationships. Alex Adams, a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) at Hudson Family, understands these struggles deeply, drawing from both her extensive professional experience and her personal journey as a mother. Her approach to Alex Adams Family Therapy provides a supportive and insightful space for families, couples, and individuals seeking positive change and stronger connections.

Alex’s path to becoming a therapist was inspired by her own experiences in motherhood. After graduating from Stanford University with a Bachelor’s in Computer Science in 2000, she initially believed that parenting would be straightforward, relying on knowledge and tips. However, the reality of raising her children led her to recognize the profound emotional depths of parenting and family dynamics. This realization spurred her to pursue a Master’s degree in Educational Psychology from CU Denver in 2007, seeking a deeper understanding of child development and emotions. Furthering her commitment to nurturing environments, Alex co-founded The Patchwork School in 2008, a preschool dedicated to the holistic development of young children. For fourteen years, she fostered a supportive learning community for children, parents, and staff, gaining invaluable experience working with diverse family needs in Louisville.

Continuing her dedication to mental wellness, Alex earned a Master’s Degree in Mindfulness-Based Transpersonal Counseling from Naropa University. She joined the Louisville Family Center in 2017 and is now a Licensed Professional Counselor and Clinical Supervisor, guiding candidate therapists. Her therapeutic approach is integrative and person-centered, incorporating techniques like Non-Violent Communication for conflict resolution, mindfulness and present moment awareness, motivational interviewing to empower clients, body awareness practices, inner parts work, and family systems theory. This comprehensive approach ensures that alex adams family therapy is tailored to meet each client’s unique situation and needs.

Alex specializes in counseling adults, couples, and families, addressing a wide spectrum of challenges. Her areas of expertise include anxiety, depression, feelings of overwhelm, trauma recovery, addiction support, career transitions, and grief counseling. She also offers specialized support for families navigating neurodiversity, adoption, co-parenting conflicts, and divorce. Her personal experience as a mother of five (including adopted and step-children) enriches her understanding of the multifaceted nature of family life today. Alex’s empathetic and practical approach helps families rediscover the joy in their relationships and build stronger, more resilient family units.

When she is not working with clients, Alex enjoys gardening, traveling, cooking, reading, and spending quality time with her family and their cat. This well-rounded life experience further informs her compassionate and grounded approach to therapy.
