Una Familia de 10 Returns for Season 11: What to Expect

Mexico City — The beloved comedy show Una Familia de 10 is making a highly anticipated return to Mexican television for its 11th season. This popular sitcom, which first premiered 17 years ago, has captured the hearts of audiences with its relatable family dynamics and hilarious situations.

Producer Pedro Ortiz de Pinedo spoke about the challenges of bringing back a show after a hiatus. However, he noted that reruns have helped the series maintain and even grow its dedicated fanbase.

“We started the first season of this program 17 years ago, based on the play El Casado Casa Quiere. It sounds easy, but it isn’t,” he stated at a press conference.

The series, also produced by and starring Jorge Ortiz de Pinedo, is set to premiere its new season on September 15th.

“The initial episodes were repeated and a fanbase was created, which is why we are back. Beyond the blood family, there is indeed an artistic family, that truly exists. We are here to entertain the audience. We are very grateful to Televisa for the support in being able to film in Acapulco,” added Jorge Ortiz, who arrived at the event in a golf cart.

This season promises to throw the characters into a fresh set of comedic predicaments. Licha (María Fernanda García), despite getting married, finds married life with a dramatic spouse less appealing than home and returns to the López household, inevitably leading to more family chaos.

“We have so much fun making the series, and I think that’s why the audience enjoys it. The other day, we were laughing for like half an hour straight,” García shared.

Plácido (Jorge Ortiz de Pinedo) feels the mounting pressure of financially supporting everyone, including his wife Renata (Zully Keith) and his father Don Arnulfo (Eduardo Manzano). He starts demanding that they find jobs. However, his boss prevents him from working at a beach club, pushing the family to explore other job opportunities in different locations.

“This series has been a success, it is a success, and it will be a success,” Ortiz de Pinedo confidently declared.

Success also smiles upon La Nena (Andrea Torre), who is thriving as a rural teacher in Oaxaca. In a special twist, two of the actress’s children, Regina and Diego, ages 11 and 6 respectively, will make their acting debut in her school scenes.

“La Nena’s character is showcasing a kindergarten class and needed children. I told my kids, two of them enjoy acting, the middle one not so much. They were fortunate to be directed by their grandfather, and seeing them in the trailer was very touching,” Torre commented.

Other characters are also navigating new life choices. Adolfo (Moisés Iván Mora) aims to capitalize on the rural environment, while Victoria (Camila Rivas) contemplates leaving her family to connect with nature.

Pierre (Luis Rodríguez “El Guana”), having found success in New York, seeks out Carlos (Carlos Ignacio), and Martina (Mariana Botas) must decide between a promotion in Monterrey and staying with her family. Meanwhile, Sol (Wendy Braga) receives an opportunity to pursue university studies.

“I’m 24 years old, and literally, I’ve spent half my life working on this project. I am grateful to everyone for these 17 years in which I have grown physically, personally, and as an actress. There is a lot of love and hard work involved,” Botas reflected.

“When I was invited to audition and join this family, I didn’t even think I would stay. I was very sick and considered canceling. When I arrived, there were many talented comedic actresses. It wasn’t something I was expecting, and that’s why I appreciate it even more. It has been an opportunity to become part of history in one of the most important programs on television,” Braga concluded.
