Halloween is undeniably more magical when experienced through the eyes of children. While the idea of a quiet Halloween indoors might appeal to some, having kids around transforms it into an exciting celebration filled with wide-eyed wonder. The anticipation, the costumes, and the candy – it’s all amplified when you see it through their innocent joy.
Last year presented its challenges, but this year, with our youngest gleefully toddling alongside the older kids, our family fully embraced the Halloween spirit. Watching them dash from door to door, their candy bags overflowing and their faces beaming with sugary delight, was the highlight of the evening.

Super Easy DIY Incredibles Family Costume Guide
Inspired by our family movie night watching “The Incredibles” earlier in the year, the idea of becoming the Parr family for Halloween took root. Despite my tendency to leave things to the last minute, even starting the night before Halloween, these Incredible Family Costumes proved surprisingly easy to put together. Forget complicated sewing projects – a hot glue gun became my best friend! With a few key items like red tights and inexpensive red shirts, the iconic superhero look materialized quickly.
Finding adult-sized red tights wasn’t an issue, though I had to opt for the largest girl’s size available. Infant red tights or pajamas, however, were surprisingly elusive at such short notice. So, for our youngest, Skylar, we creatively adapted with black leggings. The foundation of our DIY Incredibles costumes was simple: red shirts and tights for everyone. We then layered black underwear or shorts over the tights and used vibrant orange duct tape to create the signature belt detail. Black gloves, a budget-friendly find at Walmart for just 50 cents, and our own black boots completed the ensemble. A fun workaround for Brayden’s non-black boots involved slipping black socks over his colorful rain boots – problem solved!

Creating the iconic Incredibles “i” logo was another straightforward DIY task. Using felt sheets and the trusty hot glue gun, I brought the emblems to life. To replicate this, simply download and print the logo template. Cut out the oval shape from black felt. Then, using the template pieces, trace and cut out the colored sections from corresponding felt colors. Assemble the logo pieces and glue them together. Once complete, attach the finished logos to the red shirts using glue.

Finally, we styled our hair to complete the transformations. I pinned my hair up to mimic a shorter style and used gel and hairspray to achieve the boys’ superhero hairstyles. For Aliyah, we added a touch of temporary black hair color spray for extra fun. Honestly, the minimal effort – just a couple of hours at most – yielded incredible results. This incredible family costume is easily one of our favorites to date. And with everyone old enough to truly appreciate trick-or-treating and the resulting candy haul, it was a Halloween night filled with unforgettable family memories.
