Janet Marie Lohmann, aged 63, of Zumbrota, Minnesota, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 19, 2024, at Arbor Garden Place Assisted Living in Eyota, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Zumbrota on June 21, 1960, to Orion and Idella (Iverson) Kyllo, Janet’s life was marked by creativity, resilience, and a deep love for her family and community. A 1978 graduate of Wanamingo High School, Janet dedicated her life to various pursuits, ultimately becoming a successful entrepreneur as the owner of Of the Heart, a custom framing business in downtown Zumbrota, where she served the community for many years.
Beyond her professional life, Janet was a woman of many passions. She found joy in crafting and sewing, creating personalized stockings, quilt panels, and oven mitts as heartfelt gifts for her family and friends. A devoted Minnesota Vikings fan, she could often be found cheering on her team at the VFW, where she cherished the company of friends and fellow fans. Janet also embraced the outdoors, enjoying camping, gardening, and the thrill of off-roading in her Jeep. Her constant companion, Billy Ray, a Boston Terrier, was a source of immense joy and went everywhere with her, embodying the deep connection she had with her pets. Known for her inner strength, Janet often reassured those around her with the words, “I’m fine” or “I’m good,” even as she faced challenges. Her positive spirit shone through in her characteristic farewell, “Goodbye for now!” instead of a final goodbye.
Janet is lovingly remembered by her two sons, Joshua (Lyndsay) Busby of Plainview and Tyler (Tabby) Lohmann of Zumbrota; her cherished grandchildren, Hunter (16), Hallie (14) Busby, and Tinsley Lohmann (3); her brothers, Les (Cheryl), David (Shellie), and Jeffrey (Kathy) Kyllo; along with numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved dog, Billy Ray.
A memorial service to celebrate Janet’s life will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, June 25, 2024, at Lands Lutheran Church, officiated by Reverend David Krinke. Prior to the service, visitation will take place from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Monday, June 24, 2024, at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Larson Chapel in Zumbrota, and for one hour before the service at the church. Burial will follow at Trinity Lutheran Church Cemetery in Wanamingo. The Mahn Family Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements during this difficult time.
