Royal Family Responds to Prince Harry’s Security Demand: ‘Inappropriate’ Intervention

The Royal Family has reportedly addressed Prince Harry’s recent request for King Charles to intervene in his security arrangements, deeming such involvement as “inappropriate.” This response comes amidst Prince Harry’s ongoing legal dispute with the UK Home Secretary regarding his security detail in Britain.

According to The Daily Beast, a source close to the royal household revealed that the provision of security is not within the King’s jurisdiction but is determined by the UK Government. The insider further asserted, “For the King himself to attempt to intervene directly in this process in any way would be wholly inappropriate.” This statement marks the royal family’s first public acknowledgment of Prince Harry’s demands amidst the escalating legal row.

Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, stepped down as senior working royals in 2020, consequently losing their taxpayer-funded Metropolitan Police protection. Since then, the Duke of Sussex has been engaged in a legal battle to reinstate his security, which is typically granted to working royals, key politicians, and prominent public figures in the UK.

During his appearance on the ITV documentary Tabloids On Trial, Prince Harry openly voiced his apprehension about the safety risks he faces when visiting the UK. He emphasized his belief that it remains unsafe to bring his wife, Meghan, and their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, to his native country due to persistent threats.

“It’s still dangerous,” Harry stated in the documentary. “And all it takes is one lone actor, one person who reads this stuff, to act on what they have read… And whether it’s a knife or acid, whatever it is. And these are things that are a genuine concern for me.”

Concluding his remarks on the matter, Prince Harry declared that he “won’t bring” Meghan Markle back to the UK until his security concerns are adequately addressed and resolved through his ongoing legal challenge. This firm stance underscores the depth of the security dispute and its significant impact on the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s relationship with the UK.
