Robert Dean Whitaker, a beloved member of the Kiln, Mississippi community, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by family on Tuesday, June 11, 2024, at the age of 87. Born on August 1, 1936, in Jackson, Michigan, to Glen and Frances (nee Roberts) Whitaker, Robert’s life was marked by service to his country and devotion to his family. The Whitaker Family mourns the loss of a cherished father, grandfather, and friend.
Robert proudly served in the US Air Force, achieving the rank of Staff Sergeant. His time in the military exemplified his unwavering commitment and sense of duty, values that resonated throughout his life. His dedication to service is a significant part of the Whitaker family legacy.
Beyond his military service, Robert enjoyed several hobbies. He was an enthusiastic member of the Coastal Stamp Club, where he found community and joy in stamp collecting. A passionate sports fan, Robert was a dedicated supporter of the New Orleans Saints, eagerly cheering them on every game day. These passions showcased the vibrant personality of Robert Dean Whitaker.
Robert is survived by his four sons: Robert (Charlene) Whitaker, Randy (Robin) Whitaker, Russell Whitaker, and Richard Whitaker, who represent the enduring strength of the whitaker family. His legacy continues through his nine grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. He is also remembered fondly by his brothers Dale, David, and Tom, and his sister Rosie, along with numerous nieces and nephews. The extended Whitaker family network is a testament to his far-reaching love and connection.
He was predeceased by his loving wife, Sharron Whitaker, his son Craig Whitaker, his parents, and siblings Ron, Jerry, Jim, Joyce, and Elaine. Though they are no longer with us, their memories remain a vital part of the whitaker family history.
