The Little Mermaid Family Costume – 2014

Our inaugural family Halloween costume, and still a sentimental favorite, was inspired by “The Little Mermaid.” With our eldest daughter captivated by Ariel’s world, it felt like the perfect theme for our first coordinated family look. While we purchased some elements, I always enjoy adding personalized touches to make our costumes unique. Finding a dinglehopper during a Disney trip elevated my daughter’s Ariel costume, making it extra special. Alice in Wonderland Family Costume – 2015

Choosing the family Halloween costume in 2015 presented a fun challenge – pregnancy! Initially, we considered costumes that would incorporate my growing belly, but since it was still early on, those ideas didn’t quite materialize. Serendipitously, my daughters were watching “Alice in Wonderland” repeatedly, and when I suggested this theme, their excitement was contagious. Explore the whimsical details of our Alice in Wonderland family Halloween costume and see how we brought this classic story to life.

Peter Pan and Neverland Family Costume – 2016

With three young daughters, finding a Family Costume with at least two prominent “girl roles” became a key consideration. While our youngest was happy in any costume, our two older girls had strong opinions and preferences! Interestingly, 2016 was the year “Frozen” exploded in popularity, but I was determined to find a theme that was unique and less common. The idea of Peter Pan and Neverland emerged as the perfect solution, offering a blend of adventure and beloved characters. Grease Family Halloween Costume – 2017

The inspiration for our 2017 family costume was surprisingly simple: a wig! Hazel’s Sandy wig, to be exact! I’m not kidding – the moment I saw this blonde wig, the “Grease” theme became inevitable. I built all our costumes around that iconic Sandy look. Once again, this theme offered multiple strong female roles, ensuring everyone was happy and excited. The Greatest Showman Family Halloween Costume – 2018

This costume was perhaps the most challenging to assemble. Despite the massive popularity of “The Greatest Showman,” surprisingly, official Halloween costumes were nowhere to be found. I had to meticulously piece together various items to successfully create this family Halloween costume, and I’m incredibly proud of how it turned out. It became our family’s absolute favorite, sparking conversations and excitement throughout the entire year! Step right up and read more about The Greatest Showman Halloween Costume.

Hocus Pocus Family Costume – 2019

Dressing my three daughters as the Sanderson Sisters from “Hocus Pocus” was a long-held Halloween dream. Broadway Musical Hamilton Costume – 2020

My daughters are huge “Hamilton” fans, having watched it countless times and memorized most of the songs. This costume was incredibly fun for us to create together and provided endless opportunities to reenact scenes and sing along. If you’re seeking a fantastic group costume idea that’s both creative and engaging, we highly recommend using our Hamilton the Musical Family Costume as inspiration this year.

Sleeping Beauty Halloween Costume – 2021

Willy Wonka Halloween Costumes – 2022

“Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory” was a beloved movie from my childhood, and it resonated with the whole family. Inside Out Halloween Costume – 2023

After a year filled with a rollercoaster of emotions – joy, sadness, disgust, fear, and anger – “Inside Out” felt like the perfect reflection for our 2023 Halloween costume. I’ve always admired the movie’s message that all emotions and memories, even the unpleasant ones, are valuable. While we naturally seek joy and happiness, those challenging moments ultimately contribute to who we are.
