In 1961, I entered this world, and thankfully, my family captured many baby pictures and snapshots of my childhood. Growing up, there were also plenty of photos of my sisters. Looking back at these images is wonderful, but something significant is missing: family portraits. Surprisingly, I don’t possess a single picture of my parents with both my sisters and me together. This personal experience resonates deeply with my profession, as I’ve observed that a staggering 75 percent of the families I’ve photographed have never commissioned a family portrait before. This highlights a crucial point: a family portrait immortalizes your family unit, encompassing parents, children, and even grandparents, and potentially great-grandchildren, all in one frame.
