Born on July 20, 1959, in Big Spring, Texas, to Ronald and Mary Gilbreath, Rhonda spent her formative years in Stanton, Texas. It was in Stanton where her lifelong love story began, meeting her husband of 46 years, Gary, in grade school. Their journey together led them to Arlington, Texas, early in their marriage before returning to Stanton and eventually settling in Odessa to raise their children, Josh and Krista. In Odessa, they were active members of the 6th and Jackson Church of Christ, and Rhonda dedicated herself to creating a warm and nurturing home while working diligently in the Trust Department of a local bank. Following Gary’s retirement, they embraced a new chapter in Abilene, where they enjoyed traveling with loved ones and became active members of Remington Ridge Church of Christ. Rhonda and Gary were constants at family gatherings and vacations, cherishing their family and friendships deeply.

Rhonda was predeceased by her father, Ronald Gilbreath, and her brother, Ricky Gilbreath. She is lovingly survived by her mother, Mary Gilbreath; her devoted husband, Gary Barnes; her son, Josh Barnes, his wife Emily, and their children Claire, Caroline, and Henry; and her daughter, Krista Owens, her husband Jarrett, and their children Rayleigh and Jameson.

The Barnes family expresses their sincere gratitude for the outpouring of support received in recent months. The tangible presence of faith and community has been a profound comfort, reflecting the grace and generosity Rhonda embodied throughout her life.

Rhonda’s life exemplified the understanding that our earthly existence is temporary, and our true home lies in the presence of God. This salvation is offered to all who believe in Jesus Christ.
