Unlocking Family Healing Bowen Family Systems Theory and Boundary Work

This chapter provides salient features of broad principles for providing family interventions for the treating psychiatrist. Understanding Bowen's theoretical concepts of family systems theory and applying these concepts to a family in therapy is facilitated. This study examined differentiation of self as a moderator of the relationship between anxiety and current triangling among a sample of adolescents. Findings revealed that low family cohesion, parent depression, and adolescent difficulties with emotion regulation represented risks for triangulation.
