Corey James Bush Sr. Obituary – Remembering a Life Well-Lived

Corey James Bush Sr., age 34, of Mahnomen, MN, passed away on Sunday, November 5, 2017. His life, though brief, was filled with love for his family, laughter, and a deep appreciation for the natural world. Born on June 4, 1983, in Park Rapids, MN, Corey began his journey as the son of Debra Bush. His early years were spent in Akley before his family moved to Dilworth. He eventually returned to the Mahnomen and Naytahwaush area, where he spent a significant part of his life. Corey graduated from Mahnomen High School and pursued carpentry at vocational school, showcasing his aptitude for practical skills. He became a valued employee at the Shooting Star Casino in Mahnomen, initially as a cook and later as a slot technician, demonstrating his adaptability and work ethic. For the past three years, Corey contributed his efforts to the Ranch in the White Earth Food Distribution Warehouse and had recently embarked on a new venture with Dean Villebrun Construction, highlighting his willingness to embrace new challenges.

In 2008, Corey’s life was further enriched when he started a relationship with Elizabeth LaFriniere. Their bond blossomed, leading to marriage on September 3, 2016, and the joy of raising two children together. Corey was also deeply involved in the lives of his nieces and nephews, extending his loving care beyond his immediate family. Family was at the heart of Corey’s world. He cherished moments spent with his loved ones, with ricing being a particularly treasured tradition. He found peace and joy in nature, often venturing into the woods and near the lakes, appreciating the tranquility and beauty around him.

Corey was known for his quiet demeanor, but his sense of humor and contagious laugh were undeniable. He had a knack for making jokes and enjoyed watching lighthearted television shows, bringing laughter to those around him. His loving nature was evident to all who knew him, and his memory will be held dear by his family and friends.

Corey is survived by his devoted wife, Elizabeth LaFriniere-Bush; his children, Corey James Bush Jr., Aryanna Mae Bush, Destane Jewel Londo, and Hannah “Nans” Londo; his special niece, Fawn Roy; his parents, Debra Bush and Mike Roy; his father-in-law, Floyd LaFriniere; his brothers, Michael “Beez” (Kayla) Bush, Shaun (Shauna) Bush, Travis (Sarah) Roy, and James Roy; his sister, Kay Roy; his sisters-in-law, Bambi (Jim) Roy and Jody Londo; along with numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles. He was preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Loris Londo-LaFriniere, and his grandparents: Louise Rock, Leonard Bush, Ardyce McCradie, and Donald Roy.

Funeral Services to celebrate Corey’s life will be held on Saturday, November 11, 2017, at 10:00 AM at the Naytahwaush Sports Complex, Naytahwaush, MN. Visitation will commence at 5:00 PM on Friday, November 10, 2017, at the Naytahwaush Sports Complex and will continue until the service on Saturday. A prayer service will be held at 7:00 PM on Friday. The Anderson Family Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements, ensuring a respectful and comforting farewell for Corey.
