The Arizona Family Campout Program offers weekend experiences at various Arizona State Parks, carefully crafted to guide novice families through every step of camping. - May 10-11, 2025 at River Island State Park, Parker

Registration Details for Your Arizona Family:
The program fee is an affordable $90 per family of up to four for a one-night event, and $110 for two-night events. Small additional fees apply for families larger than four. We encourage Arizona families to participate in one event per season, with a maximum of three campouts in total, to allow as many families as possible to benefit from this fantastic program. Please contact [email protected] for special arrangements for larger families. Children aged 6 and older are welcome. Please note that pets are not permitted to ensure the comfort and safety of all participants. This is a tent camping program only.
What to Pack for Your Arizona Family Campout
To make your Arizona family camping experience seamless, we’ve simplified the packing list.
Your Family Will Provide:
- Delicious Food: Pack two lunches, and one or two dinners and breakfasts to fuel your adventures.
- Cooking Essentials: Bring your pots, pans, cutlery, plates, and bowls to prepare and enjoy your meals.
- Hydration: Refillable water bottles are a must to stay hydrated in the Arizona outdoors.
- Comfortable Sleeping: Sleeping bags, bedding, and pillows to ensure a good night’s rest.
- Appropriate Clothing: Sturdy shoes and layers of clothing suitable for outdoor activities and varying Arizona weather conditions.
- Personal Toiletries: Toothpaste, soap, shampoo, and any other personal hygiene items.
- Medications: Don’t forget any necessary medications for your family members.
- Towels: Pack towels for swimming and bathing, depending on the location and activities.
Arizona State Parks Will Provide:
- Tents: We take care of the main shelter!
- Sleeping Mats: For added comfort under your sleeping bags.
- Lanterns: To light up your campsite at night.
- Backpack: To carry your essentials during activities.
- Camp Stove: For easy outdoor cooking.
- Camp Chairs: Relax and enjoy the campfire!
- First Aid Kits: For safety and peace of mind.
- Activity Equipment: All gear needed for the planned family activities.
- Snacks: We’ll provide healthy snacks to keep energy levels up.
- Beverages: Water, coffee, tea, and hot chocolate will be available, along with mugs.

Fueling Your Arizona Family Adventure: Food Suggestions
Remember to bring four meals for your Arizona family campout weekend: lunch and dinner on Saturday, and breakfast and lunch on Sunday. The Arizona State Parks Family Campout Program will provide propane stoves for cooking, along with healthy snacks and essential items. Pack your preferred pots, pans, and cooking utensils. Don’t forget eating utensils for each family member, and consider any special dietary needs when planning your meals.
