Barnett Family Park in Lakeland, FL to Temporarily Close for Repairs

LAKELAND, FL (April 4, 2023) – Families planning outings at Barnett Family Park should note that this popular Lakeland park will be temporarily closed for maintenance and repairs. Located at 730 East Orange Street in downtown Lakeland, Barnett Family Park will be inaccessible to the public from April 18th through May 8th. This closure will affect all areas of the park, including the splash pad, playgrounds, and picnic facilities.

According to Pam Page, Deputy Director of Parks, Recreation & Cultural Arts, this temporary closure is essential for park upkeep. “We understand this may cause some inconvenience, and we apologize for that. However, this closure allows our crews to conduct necessary maintenance and repairs at Barnett Family Park, ensuring it’s in top condition for everyone to enjoy throughout the summer season,” Page explained.

During the three-week closure, Barnett Family Park will undergo a comprehensive refresh. Maintenance crews will be pressure washing and thoroughly cleaning the entire park area. To enhance the park’s aesthetics and safety, brick pavers throughout the park will be replaced and resealed. Additionally, the charming wishing well fountain, a beloved feature of Barnett Family Park, will be repaired. Another key aspect of the renovation includes repointing the balustrade walls. This process involves carefully touching up the mortar between the pickets, which is crucial for maintaining the structural integrity and longevity of these park features.

Barnett Family Park is a central part of the larger Lake Mirror Park complex in the heart of downtown Lakeland. Known as a family-friendly destination, Barnett Family Park offers a variety of amenities designed to appeal to visitors of all ages. Children especially enjoy the interactive splash pad water feature, providing a fun way to cool off. Beyond play areas, Barnett Family Park includes a labyrinth for contemplative walks, a covered picnic area perfect for family lunches and gatherings, convenient restroom facilities, and a versatile multipurpose field suitable for various recreational activities.
