Bruce Loren Guy, a man whose life was a testament to faith and love, passed away on March 12th, 2023, at 3:18 PM. Born on June 9th, 1950, in Howell, Michigan, to Doris Jones Guy and Harold Floyd Guy, Bruce lived a life rich in connection and devotion. For those who knew Bruce Guy, family was everything, and his warm spirit made everyone around him feel like family too.
Bruce discovered the secret to a fulfilling life: loving God and loving others. This wasn’t just a belief; it was how he lived every day. He had a remarkable ability to connect with people, genuinely interested in their lives and stories. A simple encounter with Bruce could turn into an hour-long conversation, leaving you feeling seen and valued. His thoughtfulness was evident in his gestures, big and small, always remembering what mattered to the people he cared about.
On April 1st, 1972, Bruce embarked on his lifelong partnership, marrying Annette Berrier Guy, the love of his life. Their marriage was a beautiful example of devotion, characterized by the honor, respect, and selfless love that mirrored Jesus’ teachings. Bruce was the epitome of loyalty, a constant and supportive presence for his family, always ready to offer help and love without reservation.
He is lovingly remembered by his wife Annette, his sons Jonathan and his wife Angie, Jeremy and his wife Jennifer, and Brandon and his wife Kathryn. His brother Keith, with his wife Janet and son Tyler, also survives him. Bruce held a special bond with his brother and sister-in-law, Randy and Carla, and cherished their children, Brinley and Tyler, as his own. To his seven grandchildren – Reagan, Colsen, Sela, Joshua, Caleb, Hannah, and Greyson – he was affectionately known as Popsi, a name that extended beyond his immediate family to cousins and many dear friends who became family over the years. For everyone who knew him, Bruce, or Popsi, was synonymous with warmth and genuine care.
Bruce’s faith was the cornerstone of his existence. He approached his relationship with God with humility and purpose, raising his sons in faith and embodying the love of God in his daily actions. A dedicated Deacon at Rich Fork Baptist Church, Bruce’s service extended across numerous ministries, impacting the youth and reaching out to the wider community. His involvement was not just in title but in action, consistently showing up to support, help, and offer a comforting hug.
Bruce lived a life deeply rooted in love because he knew Love intimately. Now, those who loved him find solace in knowing that Bruce is enveloped in that Love, face to face with his Savior.
A celebration of Bruce’s life, led by Pastor Michael Bowers, will be held on Friday, March 17th at 3:00 PM at Rich Fork Baptist Church in Thomasville. Following the service, a burial will take place at the church grounds. The family will welcome friends from 1:00 PM to 2:45 PM prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests memorials to be made to Rich Fork Baptist Church for the Special Needs Ministry (https://www.richfork.com/specialneeds), continuing Bruce’s legacy of love and service.
