- Males: Divisions are available for boys aged 4-15. Depending on registration numbers and interest, a competitive division may be formed for older players, offering a more challenging and focused basketball experience.

Practice and Game Schedules
Practices for the Cane Bay Family YMCA basketball league will be held once a week on weekdays, between 5:00 PM and 8:00 PM. These sessions will begin in late May or early June, with specific dates to be confirmed. Games are typically scheduled on Saturdays and Sundays, though the exact days will depend on the number of registered players and teams. To help families plan, game schedules will be released a week in advance of game days.
All games are primarily held at the Cane Bay Family YMCA located at 1655 Cane Bay Blvd., Summerville, SC 29486. Occasionally, to accommodate the league’s needs, games may also be held at Berkeley Preparatory Academy (BPA), Mason Summer Elementary (MSE), or other facilities within Berkeley County.
Uniforms and Coaching
Participants in the Cane Bay Family YMCA basketball league will be provided with a YMCA jersey. For shorts, players are required to wear plain black pocketless shorts. This ensures a consistent and team-oriented look on the court.
The YMCA is dedicated to providing quality coaching for all teams. Volunteer coaches are often parents and community members passionate about youth development and basketball. If you are interested in coaching and making a positive impact on young athletes, please reach out to the Sports Coordinator.
Competitive Division Evaluations
For those interested in a more competitive basketball experience, the Cane Bay Family YMCA may offer a competitive division, depending on interest and registration numbers. If a competitive division is formed, mandatory evaluations will be held on May 3rd and 4th, with specific times to be determined. These evaluations will take place at the Cane Bay Family YMCA. The evaluation process is closed, meaning only registered players and coaches are permitted in the gym during evaluations. Players will be assessed on various criteria including attitude, basketball technique, ball handling skills, and teamwork. It is important to note that in the competitive division, playing time may not be equal for all players.
Important Information to Note
To ensure a smooth and fair league experience, please be aware of the following: Accommodation requests are only accepted during the initial registration period and are not guaranteed. No accommodation requests will be considered after registration closes, and no accommodation requests are available for the competitive division. For player safety, metal earrings and other jewelry must be removed before all games and practices.
