Katherine Ann “Susie” Morris, a beloved member of the Richmond, Indiana community, passed away peacefully at Reid Hospital on Wednesday, January 15, 2025. Born in Richmond on February 9, 1949, to Owen and Nellie (Chamberlain) Ramsey, Susie’s life was characterized by love, family, and cherished moments.
Susie found her lifelong partner in Rollie, and they married on February 28, 1970, sharing a deep and enduring love until his passing in 2004. For many years, Susie dedicated her professional life to Hills Roses in Richmond, IN, where she worked until 1987. Beyond her work, Susie had a vibrant spirit and found joy in a variety of hobbies. She loved the challenge of puzzles, the creativity of plastic canvas work, and had an endearing collection of monkeys. An avid gamer, she enjoyed video games and playing cards with her loved ones. When the Indiana weather turned warm, Susie could often be found with a fishing pole in hand, a pastime she treasured, especially the memories of fishing with Rollie. Even after his death, her passion for fishing continued with family, always determined to catch a fish and avoid being “skunked.”
Family was the cornerstone of Susie’s life. Moments spent with family and friends were precious to her, but nothing brought a bigger smile to her face than holding and playing with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Known for her playful and loving nature, Susie had a signature way of expressing affection, always striving to be the first to say “LOVE YOU MOST,” often calling it out from another room just to win.
Susie’s legacy of love and family continues through her surviving family members: her son Rollie (Renee) Morris and daughter Sherry (Danny) Sparks, both of Richmond, IN. She is also lovingly remembered by her grandchildren: Danny (Missy) Sparks, James (Michelle) Sparks, Jessica (Joe) Kiser, William (Nora) Sparks, Travis (Chelsea) Morris, Raleigh (Andrea) Morris, Sabrina (Tommy) Cross, and Clayton Sparks. Her joy was multiplied by her ten great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Susie is also survived by her brother Owen (Barb) Ramsey of Centerville, IN, and sister Legena Knouff of Winamac, IN, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins who will miss her dearly.
Susie was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband Rollie Morris, sister Ronda Wagner, sister-in-law Cathy Ramsey, and great–great-grandchildren Annaliese and Arrianna.
