Elon Musk Joins Trump Family Photo, Intensifying Role in Post-Election Transition

Billionaire Elon Musk has emerged as a central figure in President-elect Donald Trump’s inner circle since Election Day, not only appearing in the first Trump family photo since the election but also actively advising on key staffing decisions for the incoming administration, according to multiple sources familiar with the situation.

Since the election results, the world’s wealthiest individual has been almost constantly present at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort, sources within Trump’s orbit told ABC News. This close proximity underscores Musk’s increasingly important role as Trump prepares to form his new government.

Musk’s presence was notably highlighted when he was featured in a family photograph shared by Tiffany Trump on social media on election night. Beyond this public appearance, Musk has been seen dining with former First Lady Melania Trump and participating in golf outings with the Trump family over the weekend, signaling a deepening relationship with the Trump family.

However, Musk’s influence extends beyond social engagements. Sources reveal to ABC News that he is actively involved in discussions surrounding crucial staffing choices within the Trump administration. His input is being sought and considered as Trump shapes his cabinet and key advisory roles.

Furthermore, Musk’s involvement has reached the international stage. He reportedly participated in at least two phone conversations President-elect Trump held with foreign leaders. During a call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Trump reportedly passed the phone to Musk, allowing him to directly address Zelenskyy, sources stated. Musk was also present during a call with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, indicating his access and advisory role extend to foreign policy matters.

Musk’s opinions on potential appointments have also become public. Following reports that Trump was considering Rep. Elise Stefanik as the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, Musk expressed reservations on his social media platform, X, regarding the potential impact on the Republican majority in the House. “[Elise is awesome, but it might be too risky to lose her from the House, at least for now,]” Musk posted early Monday morning, highlighting his engagement in strategic political considerations.

Musk has also publicly weighed in on the Republican Senate leadership race, endorsing Florida Republican Senator Rick Scott, further demonstrating his active participation in shaping the political landscape.

Adding to his influence within Trump’s transition team, Musk maintains a close relationship with Howard Lutnick, who is leading the White House transition efforts. This connection further solidifies Musk’s position as a key advisor during this crucial period.

Musk’s involvement with Trump extends back to the campaign, where he played a significant role, including supporting a large-scale door-knocking campaign, utilizing his social media reach, and even sponsoring a $1 million voter sweepstakes in key swing states. His continued and intensified engagement post-election, as evidenced by his presence in the Trump family photo and advisory role, underscores his significant influence on the direction of the incoming Trump administration.
