Remembering Curtis Busby: A Legacy of Service and Family Devotion

It is with deep sadness that we share the news of the passing of Curtis Busby, a much-loved figure in our community, on October 6th, 2024. Curtis dedicated an impressive 22 years of his life to the McLennan County Sheriff’s Office, Jack Harwell Division. During his tenure, he became known for his unwavering dedication, loyalty, and steadfast commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of the community he served.

Beyond his distinguished career in law enforcement, Curtis found joy and contentment in the simpler aspects of life. He had a passion for fishing, often seeking solace and tranquility by the water. Camping trips were another cherished pastime, offering him opportunities to connect with nature and unwind. Above all, Curtis treasured spending quality moments with his friends and family, who were truly the center of his world. His love for the outdoors mirrored his calm and patient demeanor, qualities that endeared him to those who knew him.

Curtis is survived by his devoted wife, Pam Busby, with whom he shared 34 wonderful years of marriage. His legacy continues through his children: Robert and Angie Colburn, Felicia and Miranda Hollingsworth, Derrick Jorgenson, Rojo and Christen Leal, Austin and Holley, Elizabeth, Kallee, and Rhyder Jorgenson. The Busby family circle extends to include his adored grandchildren: Rachelle, Robert, Callie, Payton, and Chloe; and Cory and Billy. He also leaves behind 17 great-grandchildren, each touched by his loving presence and guidance.

Born to Herman and Rosa Busby, Curtis was raised with a strong moral compass, guided by the principles of kindness, generosity, and integrity. These values were not just words to Curtis; they were the foundation upon which he built his life and nurtured his relationships. He had a remarkable ability to bring positivity and laughter into any room, always ready with a kind word or a helping hand for those in need. His strong sense of duty was only surpassed by the immense love he held for his family and friends, who remained at the very heart of his actions and thoughts.

Curtis was predeceased by his sister, Sherry Busby. He will be remembered as a man who embodied kindness and strength, consistently prioritizing the needs and well-being of others above his own. The Busby family and the wider community mourn the loss of a truly remarkable individual.

His memory will be cherished forever by his family and friends, and his legacy of service and love will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know him. Curtis will be deeply missed, but his spirit will never be forgotten.

A celebration of Curtis’s life will take place at 11:00 am on Tuesday, October 15th, at New Hope Baptist Church, located at 5783 W. Lake Creek Road, Riesel. Friends and family are invited to come together to honor a man who selflessly gave so much to others. May he rest in eternal peace.
