Ever dreamed of going head-to-head in a fun-filled battle of wits on national television? My family and I recently turned that dream into reality when we appeared on the iconic game show, Family Feud, hosted by the one and only Steve Harvey!
It all started one evening while watching Family Feud. A lightbulb went off – “My sisters and I would be amazing on this show!” The very next day, discovering they were holding auditions, I jumped at the chance and signed us up. Sending that initial email felt like a shot in the dark, especially since I’d never pursued anything like being on TV before.
Weeks turned into a month, and then an email arrived. The producers let me know they receive thousands of applications. To stand out, they asked, “What makes your family special?” They wanted a video or photo to help them decide. Panic set in – we didn’t have anything prepared!
In this age of instant video clips, and with my sisters scattered geographically, creating a fresh, dynamic video was impossible. Then, I remembered a short phone clip from a recent ice skating trip. It was just seven seconds of us cheering on the ice, nothing fancy. I sent that along with a photo and a simple message: “We’d be perfect for the show. We love Steve Harvey!”

From Audition to Center Stage
To our complete surprise, we received an invitation to audition in Berkeley, California! We brought all our energy and enthusiasm to the audition, and other families in the waiting room even told us we were their favorites. Out of thousands of initial applicants, only a hundred families were invited to audition. From that group, a mere 7-12 families are chosen to appear on Family Feud, and incredibly, we were one of them!

Filming took place at the legendary Universal Studios. As an extra perk, my sister and I snagged front-row seats to the inaugural Kelly Clarkson concert on The Voice stage the night before our taping! It was an unforgettable experience even before we stepped onto the Family Feud set.
Adding to the excitement, one of the original producers, who has been with the show since the 1970s, told us, “America is going to adore you girls! They won’t be able to turn away from the screen.” Talk about building anticipation!

Let the Games Begin – and the Laughter Erupt!
We played three fantastic games and genuinely had the time of our lives. The best part was the camaraderie with the other competing families; it was all in good fun and high spirits.
