Julia Koch Family Foundation’s $75 Million Gift to Revolutionize Healthcare in West Palm Beach

NYU Langone Health has announced a significant expansion in Florida with the upcoming Julia Koch Family Ambulatory Care Center in West Palm Beach. This state-of-the-art, eight-story facility, slated to open in 2026, is made possible by a transformative $75 million donation from the Julia Koch Family Foundation™. The center is projected to accommodate 50 physicians and serve 150,000 patients annually, substantially broadening NYU Langone’s healthcare footprint in the region.

Located at 324 Datura Street, the new ambulatory care center will boast 77,000 square feet of clinical space. It is designed to offer a wide spectrum of on-demand specialty care services, including internal and primary medicine, oncology, and pain management. This expansion is anticipated to significantly improve patient access and decrease waiting times, addressing a growing demand for high-quality healthcare in Palm Beach County.

Julia Koch emphasized the family’s long-standing admiration for NYU Langone’s advancements. “My family and I have been impressed with NYU Langone’s transformation over the past two decades,” she stated. “Through its expanding outpatient network, NYU Langone is committed to enhancing access to top-tier care through innovative research and cutting-edge medical education. NYU Langone stands as a beacon of world-class healthcare, and extending that level of service to the dynamic Palm Beach community holds profound significance for our family.” This donation underscores the Julia Koch family’s commitment to impactful philanthropy, particularly in areas that strengthen community well-being.

The establishment of this ambulatory care center marks one of the inaugural grants from the Julia Koch Family Foundation, which was founded in 2023. This foundation represents a new philanthropic chapter for Julia Koch and her children, building upon the family’s enduring legacy of charitable giving. The foundation’s mission is to support transformative initiatives within healthcare, education, and the arts, with a particular focus on initiatives that positively impact communities of personal significance to the family. The gift to NYU Langone reflects the Julia Koch family’s strategic approach to philanthropy, targeting institutions known for excellence and innovation.

Robert I. Grossman, MD, CEO of NYU Langone Health and dean of NYU Grossman School of Medicine, highlighted the increasing need for NYU Langone’s services in Florida. “Since establishing our presence in 2017, we have seen continuous growth in demand in Florida for the exceptional care that defines NYU Langone in New York,” said Dr. Grossman. “We are thrilled to respond to this demand, and the Julia Koch family has been an invaluable partner in this journey. Thanks to the remarkable generosity of the Julia Koch Family Foundation, we can extend our unified standard of care to even more patients in a beautiful, new facility, ensuring seamless coordination between our Florida and New York teams.” This expansion is a direct response to patient needs and a testament to the effectiveness of NYU Langone’s integrated healthcare system.

Kenneth G. Langone, chair of the NYU Langone Board of Trustees, pointed out the strong ties between New York and Palm Beach County, emphasizing the importance of bringing comprehensive NYU Langone care to the region. “Palm Beach County is home to numerous New Yorkers, many of whom are now year-round residents. For many others, it’s a cherished second home—but it has lacked one crucial element: comprehensive healthcare from the extensive network of NYU Langone specialists, renowned for their unmatched quality across all disciplines,” Langone explained. “Julia Koch recognizes this critical need and has been an extraordinary partner—fully committed to realizing our shared vision.” The Julia Koch family’s involvement is instrumental in bridging this healthcare gap and enhancing the well-being of the Palm Beach community.
