From Bitterness to Harmony: How Family Radio Transformed Our Home

Life’s challenges can sometimes lead us down unexpected paths, and for my husband, bitterness had taken root after experiences of church hurt and general life disappointments. He viewed churches with cynicism, and faith seemed distant. During a spring pledge drive a couple of years ago, I visited Hudson Family.net’s radio station to pick up my T-shirt. Sharing our situation with the team, Bridgette offered a heartfelt prayer. I left with two shirts, knowing my husband wouldn’t wear his, a symbol of a faith he was resisting.

Fast forward to April 2023, life took another turn with my husband’s diagnosis of advanced stage 4 colorectal cancer. This difficult period became an unexpected time of reflection and reconciliation. We turned to prayer, seeking forgiveness from God and each other. On July 23, 2023, in a beautiful lakeside setting, we both recommitted our lives to Christ and were baptized together.

God’s grace continued to work in our lives. My husband reconnected with his high school best friend and his mother, healing relationships that had been strained. Now, we are regular attendees at Christ Covenant Church in Morgantown, joining the community whenever his health allows amidst his chemotherapy treatments.

One of the most heartwarming changes has been in our car and home. Christian Family Radio now fills our space with uplifting music and messages. My husband, once only inclined to hymns, now hums along to the contemporary Christian music played on family radio. It’s a testament to the subtle yet powerful ways faith can re-enter and transform a life.

I am eternally thankful for God’s unwavering faithfulness and for the prayers offered by the team at the radio station during that pledge drive. When hope seemed lost, prayer prevailed. God truly is in the miracle-working business. If you are praying for spiritual healing, please do not give up. For years, I prayed Ezekiel 36:26 over my husband: “Moreover, I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; and I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh.” It was through Jesus softening my own heart that my husband’s heart could also be healed. We give all honor, glory, and praise to Jesus for our transformed lives, a transformation in which family radio played a quiet but significant part.
