May the Force Be With Us: Celebrating Family Bonds with Star Wars Tattoos

We’ve always been a family united by our love for Star Wars. When the latest movie release was announced, we knew we wanted to commemorate our shared passion in a unique and permanent way: Family Tattoos. It wasn’t just about getting inked; it was about solidifying our bond and carrying a piece of our shared universe with us, always.

My wife, Gini, our two daughters, Erin and Amy, and I all ventured into the tattoo parlor together. We chose Matt Madda for his incredible artistry, and he truly brought our visions to life. Gini and I, being longtime fans of the expanded Star Wars universe, opted for the symbol of the New Jedi Order. This represents Luke Skywalker’s school in the old canon – a symbol of hope and rebellion that deeply resonates with us. For me, this New Jedi Order tattoo is more than just ink; it’s a bold statement, a visible emblem of my passions, unlike my previous, more easily concealed tattoo.

Gini, with her professional life, chose a more discreet location for her tattoo, placing the New Jedi Order symbol on her right thigh. Though the placement differs, the meaning remains the same, and the symbol connects us just as strongly.

Erin, the most daring of the bunch, went for a more elaborate design. She dedicated an eight-hour session to get a blaster tattooed on her hip, accompanied by the iconic phrase, “Never tell me the odds.” This bold choice reflects her personality and adds a dynamic element to our collection of family tattoos.

For Amy, it was her first tattoo experience. She chose a design that was both subtle and deeply meaningful: a stylized X-wing soaring into view, placed delicately behind her ear. It’s a small but powerful symbol of adventure and the vastness of the Star Wars galaxy.

The experience of getting these family tattoos was incredible. The excitement, the shared experience, and the permanent reminder of our love for each other and for Star Wars filled us with joy. We spent the day high-fiving and reveling in our newly inked family bond.

Ultimately, these family tattoos are about more than just Star Wars. They are a testament to the love that surrounds us and the wonderfully nerdy passions that we share. They are a permanent reminder of our family’s force – a force of love, laughter, and a healthy dose of geekiness.
