Bring Back the Family Values Tour: A Nation in Need of Nu-Metal

Let’s be honest, things haven’t been great lately. We’re facing inflation, constant conflicts, climate change worries, and a general sense that common decency is fading. But the root cause of these issues isn’t political parties, it’s something much more fundamental: the absence of Korn’s music and the legendary Family Values Tour.

Back in the day, the Family Values Tour was like a traveling revival for nu-metal fans. Korn, the headliners, along with iconic bands like Deftones, Limp Bizkit, and Rammstein, would tour, reminding us of the unifying power of heavy music and its positive influence on families. I have vivid memories of these tours. The car rides with my dad cracking dad jokes like “Korn on a Bizkit!”, my mom knitting band-themed scarves for everyone, and my siblings and I having mosh pit scavenger hunts for… well, let’s just say mementos. Phones were absent; the vibe was all about shouting “South Park” quotes and sharing tips on dreadlock care. It was a simpler, more connected time.

Then, the music stopped. In 2008, the Family Values Tour vanished. At first, we didn’t panic, tours weren’t always annual. But as 2009 rolled around, and then 2010, the silence was deafening. It became clear: the powers that be were not prioritizing Family Values.

In 2013, amidst societal struggles, a glimmer of hope appeared. Obama attempted to revive the spirit, but it was a pale imitation. The “Family Values Festival” was a single day event in Broomfield, Colorado, not the cross-country tour we knew and loved. It felt like only the elite of Broomfield were deemed worthy of Family Values, while the rest of America was left wanting. And since then? Both the Trump and Biden administrations have completely ignored the desperate need for the Family Values Tour.

If any political leader, be it Trump or Harris, truly wants to connect with the American people, the path is clear. They need to understand the real “issues” – and by that, I’m obviously referring to Korn’s 1999 masterpiece, Issues. Only then can we truly Follow The Leader. If these politicians don’t even get the reference, then we’re in deeper trouble than we thought. The return of the Family Values Tour isn’t just about music; it’s about restoring what truly matters.
