Sarah C. Johle, O.D.
Dr. Sarah Johle is a highly qualified therapeutic optometrist and optometric glaucoma specialist committed to providing exceptional eye care to the Hutto community. Born and raised in Central Texas, Dr. Johle’s roots run deep in the region. Her parents dedicated their careers to education, instilling in her a passion for learning and serving her community. Her father was a high school coach in Crawford, and her mother taught English at Crawford High School for 41 years, where Dr. Johle proudly graduated as valedictorian.
Following her family’s educational path, Dr. Johle attended Texas A&M University, initially pursuing Nutritional Sciences. Inspired by her younger brother’s diagnosis with type 1 diabetes, she shifted her focus to better understand the intricate connection between nutrition and health. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree, graduating Cum Laude, demonstrating her commitment to academic excellence.
In 2004, Dr. Johle’s pursuit of optometry led her to Houston, where she enrolled at the prestigious University of Houston College of Optometry. During her time there, she actively engaged in extracurriculars, holding leadership positions in both the American Optometric Student Association and the Fellowship of Christian Optometrists. Her final year involved externships at thriving private practices in Austin, providing her with invaluable hands-on experience. These rotations honed her skills in contact lens fittings, including complex cases, pre- and post-operative LASIK care, and the management of ocular diseases such as glaucoma, macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, dry eye syndrome, and ocular allergies. Dr. Johle graduated with honors from UHCO, recognized for her academic achievements as a member of the Beta Sigma Kappa Optometric Honor Society.
Dr. Johle is passionate about serving the vision and eye health needs of Hutto and its neighboring communities. Her background in nutritional sciences gives her a unique perspective, emphasizing the importance of overall health in eye care. In her leisure time, she enjoys sports, particularly football, crafting, interior design, traveling, and most importantly, spending quality time with her husband and two sons, Wyatt (10) and Olsen (8).
Matt Goodman, O.D.
Dr. Matt Goodman brings a wealth of experience and a patient-centered approach to Hutto Family Eye Care. Growing up in rural Northern Wyoming, where his father worked in coal mining and his mother as a bookkeeper, Dr. Goodman developed a strong work ethic and a deep appreciation for community care. His interest in eye care was sparked by witnessing the life-changing impact of cataract surgery on his grandfather, inspiring him to pursue a career dedicated to improving vision.
Dr. Goodman’s academic journey began at the University of Wyoming, where he earned a degree in molecular biology, building a strong foundation in the sciences. He then pursued his Doctor of Optometry degree at Pacific University in Oregon. During his optometry externships, Dr. Goodman had the exceptional opportunity to train with leading eye care specialists across the nation. His externship locations included the renowned Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Miami, Florida, a Veterans Administration hospital in Lexington, Kentucky, and a private practice in Reno, Nevada, providing him with diverse clinical experiences.
After graduating with high honors from Pacific University, Dr. Goodman further refined his expertise through a residency at the prestigious Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary in Boston, Massachusetts. He specialized in ocular disease and cornea/contact lenses, gaining advanced training in complex eye conditions. Following his residency, he joined the full-time faculty at Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary, where he practiced for four years, contributing to patient care and academic excellence.

He is a dedicated patient advocate, committed to addressing each patient’s unique visual needs with compassion and expertise. Jennifer Lesniewski, O.D.
Dr. Jennifer Lesniewski is a skilled therapeutic optometrist and optometrist glaucoma specialist at Hutto Family Eye Care. Originally from Erie, Pennsylvania, and raised in a Pittsburgh suburb, Dr. Lesniewski’s journey in eye care has taken her across the country, bringing valuable experience to our Hutto practice.
Dr. Lesniewski graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a Bachelor’s degree in Rehabilitation Sciences and a certificate in the conceptual foundations of medicine, demonstrating her early interest in healthcare. She then moved to Philadelphia, PA, to attend the Pennsylvania College of Optometry (Salus University). During her time at PCO, she broadened her clinical skills through externships in diverse settings, including a specialty contact lens practice in Miami and a Veterans Administration hospital in Charleston, SC. These experiences equipped her to manage a wide spectrum of eye diseases. Dr. Lesniewski graduated with highest clinical honors, recognizing her exceptional patient care abilities.
For the first three years of her optometry career, Dr. Lesniewski practiced in a busy surgical setting in Philadelphia, working alongside an ophthalmologist. Her responsibilities included managing pre- and post-operative care for patients undergoing cataract and glaucoma surgeries. She also spearheaded the clinic’s dry eye clinic, developing a special interest in this prevalent condition. While she valued her time in Philadelphia, the pull of family led her to relocate to Texas.
Dr. Lesniewski moved to Austin in July 2019 and joined Hutto Family Eye Care, where she is an integral part of our team. She cherishes being part of a family-oriented practice and is deeply committed to delivering the highest standard of care to every patient. Dr. Lesniewski finds genuine fulfillment in her profession and feels privileged to care for her patients’ vision needs at Hutto Family Eye Care.
Dr. Lesniewski resides in Central Texas with her fiancé, a local pediatrician. Outside of her professional life, she enjoys staying active through workouts, exploring new destinations through travel, and discovering culinary delights at new restaurants.
Elena Lischau, O.D.
Dr. Elena Lischau, a Houston area native, is a dedicated optometrist at Hutto Family Eye Care. Growing up with a mother who worked as a Neonatal ICU nurse at Texas Children’s Hospital, Dr. Lischau was exposed to the healthcare field from a young age, nurturing her interest in medicine. A routine eye exam with her family optometrist sparked her passion for optometry, realizing the profound impact of vision care on patients’ lives.
Dr. Lischau pursued her undergraduate studies at Texas A&M University, earning a Bachelor of Science in Biology. She then obtained her Doctorate of Optometry from the University of Houston, graduating with honors, demonstrating her commitment to academic excellence and patient care. Her externships at the Cedar Springs Eye Clinic in Dallas and a private practice in Austin provided her with robust clinical experience in managing glaucoma, dry eye disease, diabetic retinopathy, and macular degeneration.
Following graduation, Dr. Lischau completed a specialized Brain Injury Vision Rehabilitation residency at UHCO, further expanding her expertise in pediatric eye care, vision deficits resulting from traumatic brain injuries or strokes, and adapting eye exams for patients with special needs. She is a member of prestigious honor societies, including the Beta Sigma Kappa Honor Society and the Gold Key International Optometric Honor Society, as well as professional organizations like the Texas Optometric Association and the American Optometric Association, reflecting her dedication to her field.
Prior to joining Hutto Family Eye Care, Dr. Lischau practiced in Waller and College Station. She is delighted to be part of the Central Texas community and Hutto Family Eye Care. Beyond her professional commitments, Dr. Lischau enjoys spending time with her family, friends, and her adorable dog Shirley, attending concerts, playing board games, and exploring new restaurants.
