In 1976, recognizing the evolving needs of his customers, Jerry Hop broadened his business to include retail, marking the birth of J and H Family Stores. The very first convenience store, “The Pit Stop” on Chicago Drive in Wyoming, Michigan, opened as a modest 12’x12’ space with a small fuel island. This location, a testament to the company’s enduring presence, remains a busy and vital part of the J and H Family Stores network today.
