Hilton Field at Fort Jackson serves as the central location for significant events such as Family Day and Graduation Ceremonies. In case of bad weather, your soldier’s battalion will communicate alternative arrangements for these important occasions. This guide will help you navigate your visit to Hilton Field, ensuring a smooth and enjoyable experience.
Getting to Hilton Field
Navigating to Hilton Field is straightforward. Upon entering Fort Jackson, you’ll notice blue lines painted on the roads. These lines are specifically designed to guide you directly to Hilton Field from each gate. It is highly recommended to follow these painted lines instead of relying on GPS navigation systems. GPS can sometimes direct you to restricted areas that are off-limits to visitors. By following the blue lines, you can ensure you are on the correct path and avoid any unauthorized zones.
Parking at Hilton Field
Upon arrival at Hilton Field, you will be directed to designated parking areas by parking attendants. These attendants will ensure efficient parking and help you find a suitable spot.
Accessible Parking: For visitors with health concerns or physical disabilities, accessible parking and seating options are available. To utilize accessible parking, you must display a valid, state-issued disability parking placard from your home state’s Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV). This placard will allow you to park in the designated accessible parking area, ensuring easier access to the event.
Security Screening Procedures
Please be aware that several security measures are in place at Hilton Field to ensure the safety of all attendees. All bags will be subject to search, and every visitor will be required to pass through a metal detector before entering the event area. Additionally, you will see law enforcement and emergency personnel present on-site as part of the security protocols.
Plan for Lines: It’s important to anticipate waiting in line to gain entry to the seating areas at Hilton Field. To secure good seats and avoid missing any part of the ceremony, arriving early is strongly encouraged. Early arrival will give you ample time to go through security and find your preferred seating location.
Seating Arrangements
Once you have entered Hilton Field, you will see unit cadre and informational signs that will guide you to the best seating areas for viewing your soldier’s company. These signs are strategically placed to help you find the optimal location to see your soldier during the ceremony.
Seating is First-Come, First-Served: Please note that seating within the main stands fills up quickly. Saving seats for individuals who have not yet passed through the security screening is not permitted. This policy ensures fairness and allows everyone present to find a seat in a timely manner.
Overflow Seating: Should the main stands reach full capacity, overflow bleachers are available on the far right side of the field, near the vendor area. Currently, there are no restrictions on the number of guests who can attend these ceremonies, so everyone is welcome. However, if you are attending with a large group, it may be necessary for your group to sit in separate areas as the stands fill up.
Follow Official Directions: Once you are seated in the stands, please continue to adhere to all instructions provided by unit personnel and law enforcement officers. Their guidance is in place to ensure the safety and smooth operation of the event for everyone.
Accessibility for All
Ensuring everyone can comfortably view and participate in Family Day and Graduation events is a priority. As mentioned earlier, accessible parking is available for those with significant health issues or physical disabilities. Remember to bring your registered disability parking placard from your home state’s DMV to utilize these parking spaces. Furthermore, the front row of the bleachers is specifically reserved for individuals with accessibility needs. Ramps are conveniently located at both ends of the bleachers to provide wheelchair access.
Important Information: Pets, Facilities, Vendors, Gifts
Pets: To maintain a safe and respectful environment, pets are not allowed at Hilton Field. Additionally, leaving pets unattended in your vehicle is also prohibited. If you are traveling with pets, please arrange for their care off-post or be prepared to stay with them in the parking area during the ceremony. The only exception is for ADA service animals, which are permitted at Hilton Field.
Restrooms: Restroom facilities are conveniently located at both ends of the bleachers for your use.
Vendors: A variety of vendors will be present at Hilton Field, offering memorabilia, souvenirs, apparel, and refreshments for purchase. In addition, some Unit Soldier Family Readiness Groups (SFRG) may have booths set up with various items for sale. The vendor area is situated inside the gates of Hilton Field, to the far right of the stands.
Gifts and Signs: To ensure an unobstructed view for all attendees and out of respect for the ceremony, please do not bring large signs, banners, or balloons into the stands. These items can block the view of others behind you, and your soldier will not be able to see them from the field. Similarly, air horns or other noise-making devices are not permitted. Let your presence and support be the best gift to your graduating soldier.
