WASHINGTON, D.C. — Residents of Ward 7 in Washington D.C. now have a dedicated hub for health and wellness resources with the opening of the MedStar Family Choice District of Columbia Community Wellness Center. This new 4,770-square-foot facility, located at 3924 Minnesota Ave., NE, is designed to provide convenient access to Medstar Family Choice Dc services, staff, and essential resources for eligible individuals and families. The center will offer face-to-face case management, health and education programs, and personalized support to address social determinants of health, all within a welcoming and accessible space.

MedStar Family Choice DC is committed to serving Medicaid-eligible residents enrolled in the DC Healthy Families and DC Healthcare Alliance programs. This new Community Wellness Center extends its reach, offering valuable resources to all of MedStar Family Choice DC’s nearly 63,000 current enrollees and future members. The center represents a significant step in making healthcare and wellness support more accessible within the community.

The center has ambitious plans to become a vibrant community resource, hosting bi-monthly community events and workshops, as well as four quarterly themed events aligned with the health care observances calendar. Furthermore, the center will conduct regular community training sessions and other activities designed to benefit MedStar Family Choice DC enrollees directly. In collaboration with valued community partners such as The Goal Standard, Food Jonezi, and P-LAW, the center is developing a diverse range of programs, including:
- Fitness classes for all ages and abilities.
- Interactive cooking and nutrition workshops to promote healthy eating habits.
- Perinatal legal assistance to support new and expecting parents.
- Maternity baby showers and ongoing support groups for mothers and families.
- Youth-focused activities designed to engage and empower young people.
- Comprehensive wellbeing resources to support mental and emotional health.

The Community Wellness Center is open to MedStar Family Choice DC enrollees Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., and no appointments are necessary. This walk-in accessibility ensures that enrollees can readily access the services and support available.
