Payson Family Pet Hospital is thrilled to introduce Dr. Morehead, our new Medical Director, to our community. Dr. Morehead brings a wealth of experience and a deep passion for animal care to our clinic, having practiced as a traveling relief veterinarian across the United States for the past two and a half years. Now, she’s delighted to make Utah and Payson Family Pet Hospital her permanent home.
Growing up in the Kansas City area, Dr. Morehead’s childhood dream was to become a veterinarian. She pursued this dream by graduating from the University of Missouri College of Veterinary Medicine in 2015. Her early career involved two years at a mixed animal hospital in Kansas City, where she gained experience treating both large and small animals. In 2017, Dr. Morehead transitioned to a large, small animal exclusive hospital in the Kansas City Metro area, joining a team of twelve veterinarians. It was here that she discovered her passion for mentoring fellow veterinarians, as well as developing special interests in cardiology and surgery. Seeking new experiences and broadening her veterinary horizons, Dr. Morehead and her family embarked on a unique adventure in the fall of 2021. They sold their home, moved into an RV, and traveled across the continental US, with Dr. Morehead providing her veterinary expertise at various clinics nationwide.
Dr. Morehead is known for her friendly and outgoing personality and her genuine love for connecting with people and their pets. She believes in taking the time to understand each client’s concerns and to tailor treatment plans to the specific needs of every pet and family. This personalized approach is something she is excited to bring to Payson Family Pet Hospital.
Outside of her professional life at Payson Family Pet Hospital, Dr. Morehead enjoys life in Spanish Fork with her husband of 17 years and their three dogs: boxer mixes Aela and Zelda, and a Brussels Griffon named Wicket. After their cross-country RV adventure, they are now settling into their dream home in Spanish Fork, while still enjoying shorter RV trips to explore nearby national parks on weekends. In her leisure time, Dr. Morehead’s hobbies include video games, arts and crafts, hiking, fishing, and paddleboarding.
