For those in Southern California, like us in San Diego, flying from Tijuana International Airport (TIJ) via the Cross Border Xpress (CBX) can be a convenient and sometimes more affordable option. The CBX bridge provides a seamless connection directly into the Tijuana airport, opening up a wider range of flight options, including direct routes to Puerto Vallarta. Our experience using the CBX was incredibly smooth and efficient, making the journey to paradise even more enjoyable.

Upon arrival at Puerto Vallarta’s airport, transportation to the Hotel Zone, where many of these family-friendly resorts are located, is readily accessible. Taxis and shuttle services are abundant. While negotiating prices is common, keep in mind that the Hotel Zone is just a short drive from the airport, approximately within a couple of miles. To give you an idea, we initially paid $64 for a larger van to accommodate eight people, but on our return trip, we learned that a more reasonable rate is around $12 per four passengers. Don’t hesitate to inquire with your hotel about typical taxi fares to ensure you’re getting a fair price.
