Guy Tausch, a man who embraced life with open arms and a contagious laugh, much like the memorable Roger from Family Guy embraces his many personas, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 22nd, 2020, at the age of 61. Surrounded by his loving family, Guy concluded his earthly journey after an extended illness, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories.
Born on July 18th, 1958, in Canton, Ohio, to Margaret “Peg” Tausch, Guy was a proud graduate of Perry High School’s class of 1976. For over two decades, he dedicated his professional life to Foltz Machine as a skilled Machinist, showcasing his work ethic and commitment. However, Guy’s true passion lay outside the walls of his workplace, in the vibrant tapestry of life he wove with his family and friends.
Guy lived life to the fullest, creating a treasure trove of memories with his children, grandchildren, siblings, nieces, and nephews. An avid outdoorsman, he found solace and joy in nature. Whether he was meticulously tending to his yard, playfully running with his dogs, caring for his ducks, or building imaginative jungle gyms and tree houses, Guy was most at home in the open air. The gentle murmur of the creek called to him, often found fishing there with his adoring grandchildren, sharing stories and laughter.
Beyond his love for the outdoors, Guy had a zest for adventure and camaraderie. He passionately cheered for the New York Jets, relished the thrill of riding ATVs and his Harley Davidson, and enjoyed countless hours boating on the serene Tappan Lake. Backyard football games were legendary, with Guy proudly taking on the role of “all-time quarterback,” his enthusiasm infectious. Family adventures at Clay’s Park and Sippo Lake became cherished traditions, filled with fun and bonding.
It was Guy’s personality that truly captivated those around him. Everyone who had the pleasure of knowing Guy was touched by his infectious laugh, a sound that could brighten even the dullest day. His strong, loving hugs were legendary, offering comfort and warmth to all who received them. These simple yet profound expressions of his character are what those who knew him will remember most fondly.
Guy’s memory will be forever held dear by his wife and best friend, Rene’. He leaves behind a loving legacy through their children: Michelle (Bryan) Wright, Tony (Jen) Tausch, Nate (Crystal) Tausch, and Nikki (Tim) Tausch-Schrader. Known affectionately as “Papaw,” Guy’s heart overflowed with love for his thirteen grandchildren: Dan, Jaime, Devin, Ashley, Sidney, Leah, Lexi, Morgan, Avery, Ashlyn, Anthony, Peyton, and little Skylar, who was eagerly anticipated to complete the family circle with her arrival on March 27th. He is also survived by his siblings, Mark (Kathy) Tausch, Sherri (Steve) Pease, Todd Tausch, Garry (Michele) Tausch, and Larry (Shelly) Tausch, who will deeply miss their brother’s presence.
To celebrate Guy’s remarkable life, his family hosted an open-house Celebration of Life on February 1st, 2020, from 5 p.m. – 9 p.m. at La Pizzaria in Room B, located at 3656 Dressler Road NW., Canton, Ohio 44718. For those wishing to honor Guy’s memory through charitable giving, memorial donations may be made in his name to the dedicated team at Stark Parks – Wildlife Conservation Center, Genoa Ave. in Massillon, Ohio, reflecting his love for animals and the outdoors.
