As summer gently fades and the crisp air of autumn begins to roll in, there’s no better way to celebrate the changing seasons than a visit to Schilter Family Farm. Last weekend, we bid farewell to summer and welcomed the early signs of fall with a delightful outing to their enchanting Sunflower Experience. For those of us in Washington, fall is a season to be cherished, and Schilter Family Farm provided the perfect backdrop to embrace its arrival.

The Sunflower Experience at Schilter Family Farm truly exceeded our expectations. From the moment we arrived, we were impressed by the thoughtful planning and execution of this seasonal event. The journey to the sunflower fields itself was an adventure, starting with a fun hayride from the farm entrance. This was an instant hit with our children, setting the tone for a day of exploration and joy amidst nature’s beauty. Stepping through a charming doorway and into the vast sunflower field felt like entering another world.

One of the first delightful discoveries for my middle child was a swing nestled within the sunflowers. Patience was quickly tested as she waited her turn, but the excitement was palpable. Soon enough, she was soaring through the air, and lovingly helped her younger brother join in on the fun. This simple swing became a focal point of joy and laughter, perfectly capturing the carefree spirit of a family farm visit.

Scattered throughout the expansive sunflower field were creatively arranged photo props, turning our visit into an interactive treasure hunt. My children were absolutely thrilled to discover each new element along the winding paths. It transformed our walk into an engaging game, with each vintage truck, swing set, tractor display, and charming playhouse becoming a new adventure. While the kids were happily occupied with play and exploration, I was equally delighted to capture these precious moments against the stunning golden backdrop of countless sunflowers. Schilter Family Farm has truly created an immersive experience that caters to both children’s playful spirits and parents’ desire for beautiful photos and lasting memories.

Conveniently located right at the entrance to the sunflower field, we found a welcoming food vendor. The aroma of treats was irresistible, and we indulged in some creamy vanilla ice cream cones – a perfect refreshment on a warm day. For families looking for a more substantial bite, hotdogs were also on offer, making it easy to extend your visit through meal times.

Each ticket to the Sunflower Experience at Schilter Family Farm is thoughtfully inclusive, covering the hayride to and from the field, and also granting you one beautiful u-cut sunflower bloom to take home. For those who fall in love with the sunflowers (and it’s hard not to!), additional sunflowers are available for purchase, allowing you to create your own stunning bouquet.

In total, we spent a wonderful two hours immersed in the sunflower field before hopping back on the hayride to return to the farm entrance. It was a truly beautiful and enjoyable way to spend an afternoon. Schilter Family Farm impressed us with the sheer variety of sunflowers available, and we each returned home with a unique type of sunflower, a perfect memento of our visit. We are already looking forward to our next visit to Schilter Family Farm and highly recommend the Sunflower Experience to anyone seeking a delightful and memorable family outing.
