Growing up in Axtell with modest beginnings, Dr. Jurek gained a profound understanding of the difficulties many face in accessing affordable healthcare. His early experiences, including a childhood negotiation for dental care at the age of nine, sowed the seeds of generosity that would blossom throughout his distinguished career.
Following his service in the U.S. Navy Medical Corps, Dr. Jurek established a successful dental practice in Waco. There, he consistently extended care to those in need, frequently offering reduced-cost services to teachers, ministers, and others facing financial challenges. His deep commitment to supporting vulnerable populations inspired him to develop educational programs that have become a cornerstone of primary care for patients with mental and developmental disabilities within the Waco community.
Dr. Jurek’s transformative $1 million donation to Waco Family Medicine, facilitated by the Waco Foundation, will establish the George H. Jurek Dental Clinic at our new flagship facility. This significant contribution will ensure that future generations in Waco have access to the compassionate and comprehensive care he championed throughout his lifetime. This new clinic will be instrumental in expanding our services and reaching more individuals in need of quality dental care within the region.
