Ruby Mae West, a beloved resident of Schoolcraft, Michigan, passed away unexpectedly on August 6, 2024, at the age of 62. Born on October 22, 1962, in Paw Paw, Michigan, to Lloyd Arthur, Sr. and Beulah Mae (Price) West, Ruby’s life was deeply rooted in family and dedicated to those she loved.
Ruby dedicated many years to the manufacturing industry, contributing her skills to companies such as Engineered Plastic Components in Mattawan, Benteler Automotive in Galesburg, and Fab Master in Marcellus. While she was a dedicated worker, Ruby’s true passion and joy came from her family, especially her thirteen grandchildren. Known affectionately as “Nana” to those closest to her, Ruby’s world revolved around these “favorite little people.” She cherished every moment spent with them, from attending K-Wings hockey games to fun-filled trips to the zoo, creating lasting memories and bonds.
Ruby was the kind of person who offered unwavering support to everyone in her life. Whether it was a listening ear or a helping hand, she was always available, just a phone call away. Her generous spirit and caring nature touched the lives of many.
Ruby was preceded in death by her father, Lloyd West, Sr.; her grandson, Bradley Michael West; her infant sister, Caroline; and her brother, Arthur.
She is lovingly survived by her three daughters, Lisa West, Heather West, and Sabrina West; her 13 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; her mother, Beulah West; her sisters, Christine and Geraldine; her brothers, Kelcy and Lloyd, Jr.; and numerous nieces and nephews. Her legacy of love and family devotion will continue to live on through them.
A funeral service to honor and celebrate Ruby’s life will be held on Thursday, August 15, 2024, at 1:00pm at Langeland Family Funeral Homes Burial and Cremation Services, located at 411 E Centre Ave, Portage, Michigan 49002. The family will receive friends and loved ones from 11:30am until the time of the service at the funeral home. Following the service, interment will take place at Boughton Cemetery.
