Robert Dean Whitaker: A Life of Service and Family Devotion

Robert Dean Whitaker, a beloved member of the Whitaker Family, passed away peacefully at his home in Kiln, Mississippi, surrounded by his family on Tuesday, June 11, 2024. He was 87 years old, born on August 1, 1936, in Jackson, Michigan, to Glen and Frances (nee Roberts) Whitaker. Robert’s life was marked by dedication to his country, his passions, and above all, his family.

Robert Dean Whitaker proudly served in the US Air Force, attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant. His time in the military was a period of significant commitment and reflected his deep sense of patriotism and duty. This service is a cornerstone of the Whitaker family legacy of service and dedication.

Beyond his military service, Robert enjoyed several hobbies that brought him joy and relaxation. He was an enthusiastic member of the Coastal Stamp Club, where he indulged his passion for stamp collecting. Robert was also a dedicated fan of the New Orleans Saints, eagerly supporting his favorite football team through every season. These interests showcased his engaging personality and his ability to find pleasure in community and personal pursuits.

Robert’s greatest joy was his family. He is lovingly remembered by his four sons: Robert (Charlene) Whitaker, Randy (Robin) Whitaker, Russell Whitaker, and Richard Whitaker. His legacy continues through his nine grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. He is also survived by his brothers Dale, David, and Tom, and his sister Rosie, along with numerous nieces and nephews, all part of the extended Whitaker family. Each of them carries a piece of Robert’s spirit and the values he instilled.

Robert was predeceased by his wife, Sharron Whitaker, his son Craig Whitaker, his parents, and his siblings Ron, Jerry, Jim, Joyce, and Elaine. While he is no longer with us, the memories and love Robert shared will forever remain in the hearts of his family and friends.

The Riemann Family Funeral Home in Pass Christian is honored to serve the Whitaker family during this time. Robert Dean Whitaker will be remembered for his kindness, his unwavering dedication, and the profound love he had for his family. May he rest in peace.
