Celebrating the Life of Katherine Ann “Susie” Morris: A Richmond Community Farewell

Katherine Ann “Susie” Morris, a cherished member of the Richmond, Indiana community, peacefully passed away at Reid Hospital on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, at the age of 75. Born on February 9, 1949, in Richmond, IN, to Owen and Nellie (Chamberlain) Ramsey, Katherine’s life was a testament to love, family, and simple joys.

Susie, as she was lovingly known, shared a beautiful and devoted marriage with Rollie, the love of her life, from February 28, 1970, until his passing in 2004. For many years, she contributed her strong work ethic to Hills Roses in Richmond, IN, until 1987. Beyond her professional life, Katherine found immense pleasure in a variety of hobbies. She was known for her love of challenging puzzles that kept her mind sharp and creative plastic canvas work. Her playful spirit was evident in her whimsical collection of monkeys and her enjoyment of video games. Gatherings with loved ones were always brighter with Susie present, especially when playing cards with family and friends.

When the Indiana weather was favorable, Katherine’s favorite pastime was fishing. She held dear the memories of fishing alongside her husband, Rollie. Even after his passing, her passion for fishing continued, often joining family members on fishing trips. Known for her determination, Susie never wanted to leave without catching a fish – she simply wouldn’t tolerate being “skunked”!

However, above all else, Katherine treasured moments spent with her family. While she cherished every interaction with friends and relatives, nothing brought a bigger smile to Susie’s face than holding and playing with her grandbabies and great-grandbabies. Her playful nature extended to her interactions; Katherine had a heartwarming habit of trying to be the first to say “LOVE YOU MOST,” often yelling it from another room upon someone’s arrival, just to claim the title.

Katherine’s legacy of love and family devotion continues through her surviving family. She is lovingly remembered by her son Rollie (Renee) Morris and daughter Sherry (Danny) Sparks, both of Richmond, IN. Her grandchildren, Danny (Missy) Sparks of Dublin, IN, James (Michelle) Sparks of Webster, IN, Jessica (Joe) Kiser of Troy, OH, William (Nora) Sparks of Bethel, IN, Travis (Chelsea) Morris of Centerville, IN, Raleigh (Andrea) Morris, and Sabrina (Tommy) Cross, Clayton Sparks, all of Richmond, IN, will forever cherish her memory. Katherine also leaves behind ten great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, her brother Owen (Barb) Ramsey of Centerville, IN, and her sister Legena Knouff of Winamac, IN, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Katherine was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband Rollie Morris, sister Ronda Wagner, sister-in-law Cathy Ramsey, and great–great-grandchildren Annaliese and Arrianna.
