The journey to exceptional fruit begins in our groves, where meticulous care is paramount. Matt, my youngest son, shares my deep-rooted passion for nurturing healthy trees, a dedication passed down through generations. Working alongside my team of grower friends, many of whom bring three generations of local citrus growing expertise to the farm, we ensure every tree receives the attention it deserves. Gentle and careful harvesting, led by Benito, is crucial in preserving the fruit’s quality right from the start. Once harvested, our experienced packinghouse team takes over, rigorously inspecting each piece of fruit to guarantee only the best reaches your table. Every SugarBelle, Navel, Honeybell, Temple, Valencia, and Ruby Red orange undergoes a minimum of eight quality checks before packing. Even my wife, Sharon, contributes her personal touch by making every batch of fudge herself, adding a homemade treat to our offerings. Matt, armed with his Citrus degree from FL Southern College in 2019, now serves as Al’s Family Farms’ full-time packinghouse and peach farm production manager, further solidifying our family’s commitment to quality and expertise.
And myself? I remain deeply involved, overseeing crop selection, harvesting, washing, waxing, and grading of virtually every piece of fruit we pick. Why such meticulous control over every step? Simply put, it minimizes errors and ensures consistent quality.
